Ryley 8

Ryley 8

Lake Argyle is a huge inland lake, home to 30,000 crocodiles.  We stayed at a really nice caravan park there.  I spent most of my time up in a tree.

They also had an infinity pool that overlooked the lake.  We had a swim but the pool was freezing. At sunset we went on a cruise.  On the cruise we saw fish being fed and wallaroos on the islands.  While we cruised around we saw plenty of crocodiles.  We pulled up just before sunset and were told that we were allowed to jump in the lake for a swim.  Although the lake is full of crocodiles they are only fresh water ones so they won’t attack people.  We were even allowed to jump off the roof of the boat, we were doing flips and stuff and it was really fun.  On the cruise they supplied heaps of softdrink. It was really nice.

On our way to Kakadu we stopped at Pussy Cat Flats which is an interesting little racetrack caravan park.  Although there wasn’t much to do we had a great time  Showering with green tree frogs was a highlight.  Taj and I had a couple of frogs jump on us while we showered.  Before going to Kakadu we played a round of golf which was really fun.

At Kakadu there was a really nice pool and a lot to do.  We swam in the pool a lot.  We went to Cahills crossing to fish and see the crocs.  There weren’t many crocs there but we did catch a few fish.  There was archer fish and catfish.  We also went on a couple of nice walks.  For Taj’s birthday we stayed at the caravan Park and swam all day.

Next stop was Darwin where Dad booked us into a house for the week.  Staying in the house was great because I was vomiting half the time.  I was one of the 2% of the population who have a reaction to the Gardisil vaccination and I was really sick.  We went out in our friend Jon’s boat and caught a heap of cod.  Taj also caught a golden snapper and I caught a barramundi.  Catching a barramundi was an experience that I’ll never forget.  I made sure to thank Jon heaps for the experience.  We also had fun throwing the casting net out and catching heaps of bait.

We went to the deckchair cinema but that was when I first started to get sick so I didn’t enjoy it so much.

We went to the museum that had some really funny pictures about the front cover of the NT newspaper.  At the museum they also had a pond that was full of fish and turtles.  We had a really great time.

We went to Crocosaurus Cove where we got to see crocs, feed turtles, fish for crocs and hold a baby croc.  There were huge barramundi in the fish tank along with huge rays and plenty of other fish.  They had a reptile house and they had some really cool animals in there.

We went to a few swimming pools in Darwin, the best one had a really great slide where you could race against other people.
