Halls Gap –
Adelaide
When we got to Mt Gambier it looked like there was nothing to
do. It was really boring, we played some
games of Bocci. Then Grumps found out
about a Sinkhole that turned out to be a garden. So we went there and one sinkhole was really
good, the other one was really bad. At
the first sinkhole which was the good one, there were possums and rats that had
made homes in the limestone walls of the sinkhole. I patted a baby possum and its Mum, they were
really soft and I wanted to take them home.
We were running around the sinkhole trying to find possums, it was
exciting and we had so much fun. At the
second sinkhole there wasn’t much to see and it made Ryley and I really
nauseous We left that one pretty quick!
We went to the Blue Lake which was amazing.
Its set on top of Australia’s youngest volcano. We also went to see a documentary about
volcanoes in Australia.
When we got
to Robe we went to look at the Obelisk.
You could see all the reefs. Once
we got back to the caravan I made some new friends and we wanted to race with
them on the jumping pillow. We had fun
but then they had to leave to go home we made up a game called Supersmash Bros
and we played it on the jumping pillow.
At night we went to the beach, Ryley and I were fishing for a bit then
we got bored and started jumping on cliffs and making them collapse. Grandma caught a lot of crabs.
Next stop
was Victor Harbour. When we got there
Dad, Ryley and I went for a drive to The Bluff and we started to fish there
because Ryley found some line. When
Ryley caught the fish I went to measure them and throw them back. I knocked them out because I didn’t throw them
properly. We caught Leather Jacket and
Tommy Rough. All up I caught a trevally,
parrot fish, Tommy Rough and a crab. We
went across to Granite Island on a horse drawn tram. We saw sting rays, a seal, dolphins and
little penguin holes. It was really fun
even though we didn’t get to do a Little Penguin excursion. We also saw two more seals at the Bluff. On the last day we went for a train ride
along the coast. It was a Cockle train
like Puffin Billy. I got picked to go in
the drivers cabin, it was very cool.
We stayed
at a Big 4 caravan Park in Adelaide, there was two jumping pillows, two pools,
three playgounds and you could hire a go cart. The bad part was that aeroplanes
landed next to the park all day and all night and they were really loud. From West Beach I scootered into Glenelg and
I got a drink, I drank a bit then I had to get going because a boat was coming
and the drawbridge was going to lift up.
We went on the jumping pillows.
We also went to the Adelaide Zoo. The Adelaide Zoo has the only Giant
Pandas in Australia. They were very lazy
like a sloth when we saw them the first time but the next time we saw them they
were moving. I went in a bird aviary and
saw a Tawny Frog mouth. I thought that
the bird aviaries were amazing because they had so much different varieties of
birds. We saw the hippopotamus and lots of
monkeys. There was one really cheeky
monkey who knocked over the keepers broom and tried to steal her walkie
talkie. One of the Gibbons was having a
fight with the water hen, it was so funny, he kept on hitting the water hen on
the head and when the water hen tried to peck him he’d run away. I also saw a
Tasmanian devil, it looked like a dog.
We saw a Bilby that was running and one that was snoring.
We just
dropped Tamsyn’s friend Jordan off at the airport and now were heading to the
Barossa Valley. By next week we’ll be in
Western Australia.
