Robe to Barossa Valley
When we arrived at Robe we went to the
caravan park that we were meant to stay at but then we realised that it was
really bad so we went to a Big4 which was really good. Taj and I made a couple
of friends which was good because then we could play games on the jumping pillow.
On one of the days mum made us do this really crappy history lesson but dad and
I found a jetty to fish off.
Fishing at Robe was pretty good but we
didn’t get much good fish. When we fished off
the beach we caught a heap of crabs but nothing else. On the jetty we
had bites the whole time but only got 1 big fish, it was a nice big parrot
fish. At Robe I caught 1 parrotfish, 1 toad fish, 1 whiting and 1 bay trout.
Dad caught 1 mystery fish, 1 toad fish, and 1 big parrot fish.
The next place we went to was Victor Harbour.
Victor Harbour was a nice little town where people had been catching a lot of
big tuna. There was a big causeway which was a bridge across to an island. The bridge was 600 metres long, we caught the
horse drawn tram across the bridge which was pretty good. On the way across Taj spotted two little rays
which were really cool. Then we walked around the island and I spotted a pod of
dolphins which was amazing. We walked to the end of the pier on the island and
there was a dude catching flatty. We went for a night walk on the island to try
spot some of the little penguin colony that lived there but we didn’t spot any.
On the second last day to all of our surprise (accept Mum and Dad’s) Jordan
turned up which was really good for Tamsyn who had been missing all her
friends.
Fishing at Victor Harbour was good but we
didn’t get and really big fish. The spot
we fished at was called The Bluff. At Victor Harbour Taj caught 1 travelly, 1
leather jacket and 1 parrot fish and he had a really good time. Dad only caught
one fish, it was a sweep. I caught 4 leather jackets, 1 crab, 1 sea star, 1
drummer and 1 tommy rough. But there were also a lot of squid caught by other
people.
Our next stop was Adelaide. Adelaide was
awesome, we only stayed for 2 nights though because we were next to the airport
which was really loud. The first day we spent setting up and then the next day
we went shopping which was good. I got a new hat, a pair of running shorts, a
singlet, a tee shirt and 3 pairs of shorts.
Jordan, Tamsyn and I walked back while
the others drove. On the way back we
stopped off at Maccas and got some food. That night Jordan and I made some
friends from Port Lincoln. For Dad’s birthday we went to a yacht club and the
meals were really good and there were even dolphins swimming in the bay in
front of us. At the yacht club where we had dinner I finished my meal and went
to the boat ramp to see if any fish had been caught. I met a really nice guy
who had about 40 trumpeter in his esky and he was just fishing off the boat
ramp jetty. He said I could have a shot
at his other rod and I almost caught something first cast. Taj came and said it was time to go so I had
my second and last cast and caught a trumpeter.
We also went to the zoo which was amazing, there was even an albino
meerkat. The next morning we had to say good bye to the Port Lincoln girls and
a couple of boys which was disappointing.
Finally we had to say bye to Jordan who was on his way back to Melbourne.
Barossa Valley was our next stop. There was a jumping pillow and a water slide
at our caravan park which is what we
spent a lot of our time doing. We also
went to a couple wineries which were pretty boring accept Maggie Beers. Maggie Beers Farm had a pond with heaps of
turtles, really good ice cream and we got to try non-alcoholic wine which was really
fizzy. Unfortunately today we also had
to say good bye to Grandma and Grumps who had to go back to Melbourne.
Excellent write up Ry! Love the look of those fluffy monkeys - so cute! The waterslide and jumping pillow look like great fun.
ReplyDeleteHope you keep having a great trip.
Love lots,
