Pentz' Prattle 2

Right O, here we go, been a while!
My last post was just prior to Victor Harbor which seems a life time ago. Victor Harbor has an awesome causeway and riding across it on a horse drawn tram was pretty cool. The boys and I had some fun catching some fish down at the Bluff, however, the highlight was the train ride along the coast, places like Port Elliott have some amazing coastline.

From Victor Harbor we travelled to Adelaide, staying pretty close to Glenelg. I had my birthday during our stay and it was nice to have Jordy travel all the way from Melbourne to help me celebrate. The zoo was cool and I loved the pandas. My birthday dinner was at the Sailing club and it was truly sensational. Great food, awesome views and even a dolphin display in the bay.

Next stop was the Barossa and our search for our favourite White Port. Graemhami, Kristy and I had early success finding it at Bethany Winery Estate. We then celebrated by attending as many wineries and breweries as we could. The Barossa is a great place. With sadness we said could by to Grandma and Grumps and heading up to the Flinders Ranges.

The Flinders Ranges had some great walks and was very peaceful. From here we began heading across to the west, our first stop was a great free stay in a tiny town called Haslam. After Haslam we headed to Fowler’s Bay. We spend a couple of nights at Fowler’s and enjoyed catching squid off the jetty and having calamari for dinner each night. We combined it with groper, snapper and nannagai. Magnificent local produce.

When leaving we prepared for the crossing of the nulla’BORE.’  Again it didn’t disappoint it was certainly boring. After the long travel we called in at Fraser Range and had a cool little camp fire and celebrated passing the Nullabor.

As we headed towards Perth we (I) decided to take the shortest route across 250km of dirt road towards Wave Rock. Kristy was stoked when we finally stopped at Kondinin and every knife, fork, plate, piece of clothing etc was covered in red dust. Kondinin was great. It was fantastic to see the community grant program in WA working so well. There facilities were amazing and we enjoyed swimming in the new community pool.

Finally after it seemed like endless travel we made it to Perth. Perth is truly gorgeous in every aspect. We stayed at an amazing Tourist Park in Karrinyup and search the local real estate market. Everytime I visit Perth I like it more and more. Our trip to Rottnest Island was the highlight and loved the snorkelling and quokka’s. We were also treated to some local hospitality by some of Kristy’s old friend’s the two Matt’s (Holmes and Bardsley.)

As I sit we are now in a great little spot called Jurien Bay and wait for the cyclone to hit. Could be some exciting times.

  1. Hey Chriso,
Your birthday dinner sounded absolutely magnificent, one to remember for sure :) Can't imagine too many better places in the world to celebrate, there probably aren't any, especially when you consider the company you shared it with - magic! Getting 'old' isn't too bad when you get to celebrate in that kind of style :)
Sounds like you've seen some amazing scenery ... and the occasional bit of red dirt thrown in to keep you from getting too cocky about living the life. Can't have you making us all TOO sick with envy (though you're giving that a fair shake).
Great photos, but my favourite by far is the seventh one down. Now THAT is an expressive face! You look like you're not sure whether to be thrilled by the catch or completely terrified and ready to bolt - one for the fridge when you get home :)
Keep having a fantastic time away.
    Love lots,
    Liz and Dan xx
