Taj's Tales 1

The Grampians are big.  We went for a long walk down to a river at the caravan park.  We saw some fish in the crystal clear water.  When we were walking back from the river we spotted a cute echidna running across the road.  Ryley and I ran to the echidna, it was digging a hole, searching for its food.  When we were looking at the echidna some kangaroos hopped across the road just two metres in front of us.  The Grampians are full of wildlife.  We saw emus, different types of lizards including bearded dragons.  We saw lots of different birds from the cockatoo family and we saw ducks and currawongs.  At the caravan park I was allowed to hand feed the cockies and other wildlife.  While I was feeding the cockies one flew up and tried to rip my hood off, it made me laugh.

We all walked up to the Pinnacle.  The Pinnacle is a spectacular lookout but it was very hard to get there because you had to climb up rocks. I ran in front of Grandma and Mrs Bev and they thought that I got lost but I knew where I was going, I just had to follow the yellow markers.  We came down from the lookout on a different track.  We walked down through a tall, thin canyon, it was awesome.

We were close to the end of the walk when we saw a sign that said “Grand Canyon” so we went down the track. We had to go down lots of stairs to get to the bottom of the huge, wide canyon.

The next day we went to the Halls Gap Zoo. The best part of the day was when I got to feed the meerkats.  I had to feed them live sandworms.  It hurt when they tried to open up my hand because their little claws dug in to me.  Meerkats are cute and cheeky. There were lots of cute, ugly and cool animals at the zoo.

On the day that we were leaving Sunrise was filming at the caravan park.  As soon as I woke up I got dressed and tried to get on Sunrise.  I missed one of the shoots but got on TV for the next two broadcasts.

Next stop Mt Gambier.

  1. What a ripper write up Taj! So detailed! I saw an echinda on one of the hikes I did when Dan and I were in the Grampians last year - loved all the wildlife there so much. I'm glad you all got to see lots of animals too. What a spectacular place the Grampians are.
The photos of you and Ry feeding the meerkats are terrific, looks like you were having a ball (even if they did have sharp claws!)
Keep enjoying yourselves, go you good things!
    Much love,

  2. Hi Taj,

We hope you are well, it's sounds like you are having fun! We would like to ask you some questions:
What is your favourite animal that you have seen so far?
What is your favourite thing that you have done?
We would like to know what currawongs are?

Back here in 4J we have been doing lots of things; daily 5, maths groups, inquiring into cultural backgrounds and we made an iMovie for a competition on broadcast.

We are missing you but hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Talk soon, from 4J and Miss Jeffress
